Fine Art Botanical Prints
All the prints you order from us are printed “on demand” by a professional printing company. You will have the option for various sizes and finishes on each of your prints. The shipping cost is a standard fee and priority mail is used. There is no markup for this and we charge only what it costs us to mail out your order. If there is any problem with your prints when they arrive, a new order will be rushed out as needed.
All of our larger prints, 16×20 and larger, are printed using a Giclee method.
Our smaller prints are printed on professional photo printers.
What is a Giclee Print?
Giclee (zhe-clay) printing produces the highest quality color reproduction and resolution possible today. It is used almost exclusively for fine art reproduction. Unlike a poster, or lithograph that is sheet-fed on a printing press (where hundreds of prints are produced instantly), giclees are produced individually.
After extensive pre-press work and “proofing” by the artist, it takes more than an hour to print just one giclee. The giclee printer and artist’s goal is to reproduce what was painted (in oil, acrylic, watercolor, or mixed media) in ink, so the eye can barely distinguish the difference. Giclees have no visible dot pattern and so closely match an artist’s rendering that they are often mistaken for originals.
Prominent art museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim, MOMA, Los Angeles Museum of Art, Smithsonian, and many other art institutions have hosted exhibitions featuring giclee prints. Their high value in the art world is a function of reproductive quality, and the demand for an artist’s work.
Do Giclee printers use ordinary printers inks?
No. They use special light-fast inks, which, if kept out of the sun, will remain true for up to 25 years or more. The way the image is scanned is different also. The paper used is a heavy-weight photo paper and we can do custom orders or have the Botanical images printed on canvas if desired.
Just drop us an email if you need something special.
Our prints are offered in “standard sizes.” This means that all you have to do is put it into a store bought frame. This will save you money and keep your decorating costs down….alowing you to buy more artwork. Remember that the 16×20 and larger sizes are printed using a Giclee method. The Smaller prints are printed on professional laser and ink jet printers(like photos) and the quality is outstanding.
